2020-10-05 · The 1995 Kevin Smith film "Mallrats" was mostly filmed in Minnesota, with some scenes filmed in Smith's native New Jersey. The key location of the movie, the Eden Prairie Center Mall, has since been heavily remodeled and no longer appears how it did in the film. While watching Mallrats it's quite clear Smith doesn't have all that much to say except maybe taking a stab at making a studio film far too early in his career. It's not that it's a bad movie though, just an unbalanced one.
