In the Spring of 1967, a strong partnership led NASA and Hasselblad to build the camera, that would be used to take photographs on the Moon. The result was a

Hasselblad legacy at your fingertips. The most renowned images in history have been taken with Hasselblad cameras, from the moon to Abbey Road. For the first time, Hasselblad is bringing its unique, iconic design and imaging experience to the mobile space. The Hasselblad EDC was once on the moon carried by Apollo 15.

Almost all of the still photographs taken during these missions used modified Hasselblad cameras.

Also in the lunar module - and making its first journey in space - was a Hasselblad 500EL Data Camera, which was the one to be used on the moon's surface. The Data Camera, like the other two 500ELs, was a modified standard 500EL camera but differed from the others in several ways: (1) The Data Camera was fitted with a so-called Reseau plate.

This special edition includes the 907X camera body and CFV II 50C digital back, both in matte black with commemorative “On the Moon Since 1969” anniversary text. This “hacked” Hasselblad found itself in the payload for Mercury 8 (MA-8) in October 1962. Fast forward seven years, and another Hasselblad camera was taken to the Moon.
